Jack Lake’s clean, clear water and its “no motors” designation make it ideal for swimming and canoeing. You’ll enjoy calm, safe and uncrowded waters with a sandy beach! Jack Lake is also a great place to wet a line. Fisherman enjoy excellent populations of bass, trout and panfish. The park offers a public boat landing, boat rentals, fishing bait sales and several piers for the shore fisherman. (Remember the operation of outboard motors is prohibited; however, electric motors are legal.)
Outdoor enthusiast will find many miles of scenic trails to explore which are easily accessible from Veteran’s Memorial Park. The Game Lake Nature Trail meanders through several forest habitats, crosses a floating bog and circles a wilderness lake. The trail is well marked and has several access points so hiking distances can vary. The Langlade County Arboretum joins with the nature trail and hosts a variety of native plants for easy viewing. Bikers can ride on the Game Lake Nature Trail or explore the countless forest roads. In addition, the Ice Age National Scenic Trail is easily accessible from the park. This challenging 18-hole course features a variety of terrain including open park lands, woods and lake shore. Discs, supplies and refreshments are available at the Pro Shop located in the office.
The park is a trailhead for snowmobiling with access to over 500 miles of groomed trails. Ample parking is available. The Game Lake Nature Trail serves as a challenging snowshoe trail. The Jack Lake Cross Country Ski Trail consists of 10 groomed loops totaling nearly 20 miles designed for the beginner and expert alike.
